Wendy Bownes

Hi!  I'm Teacher Wendy Bownes. Welcome to my website! I LOVE MUSIC ... I LOVE CHILDREN ... I LOVE TEACHING My goal is to inspire children's musical interest and work with them to build solid musical foundations. Whether a child pursues further musical studies or simply has wonderful memories of music class, my desire is that they will love music their whole life! I believe that musical education should be fun! I give children exciting, quality keyboard and musical training. Music has been an important part of my whole life!  I begged my parents for piano lessons at age 5. I LOVE playing piano and studying Music History and Theory. Growing up I participated in many festivals, examinations, church services and special events. I achieved my Gr. 8 Western Board of Music (now Conservatory Canada). I graduated from Concordia University College in Edmonton, AB with a Bachelor of Arts in Music. I taught private lessons for over 10 years until I discovered the Music for Young Children program. I was so excited to train to be an MYC teacher and have taught the program for 24 years!  The MYC program is so stimulating and creative.  I love having groups of parents and children learning together in class. I am always amazed how much students learn so quickly!  I also achieved my Early Learning and Child Care Certificate from Red Deer College and taught preschool for 5 years.  I continue to share musical circle times in Early Childhood Centres in Red Deer. My husband and I have lived in Red Deer since 2006 and are proud parents of a daughter and a son.
