Kara Petterson

I am so pleased to introduce myself as an energetic, enthusiastic, and exuberant performing arts educator. Performing arts have been a passion of mine since childhood. In fact,  I am an MYC graduate myself, as my mother was an MYC teacher. I grew up surrounded by the method and am thrilled to continue sharing the joy that is Music for Young Children. My music education continued after MYC through private piano and voice lessons. The passion for music continued to grow and inspired me to pursue my Diploma of Music, which I received from Red Deer College in 2018. I continued my post-secondary career at the University of Alberta where I received the Gladys Eleanor Eckert Scholarship and completed my Bachelor of Education in 2020. Since matriculating, I have gained experience teaching general music K-6, band 7/8, FSL 4-6, grade 6 homeroom, and a variety of grade 7/8 complementary courses including dance, foods, sports leadership, and choir. Along with MYC, piano, and voice lessons I also trained extensively in dance. I have dedicated over twenty years to training in ballet, tap, and jazz (among other styles). My love of music and dance come to life in my studio where the joy of it is contagious. I can't wait to share music with you and your family!

Our studio is located in unit #215 on the second floor of the Sheridan Mall, Cochrane, AB. Our space has new carpets, beautiful large windows, and plenty of space for all!
