All classes are group lessons, with up to 6 people per class. Whether you are giving your child the advantage to learning - or wanting to acheive a life-long dream of reading and playing music, MYC has the fun in learning.  Music is one of the best things for the brain, to build the cerebral cortex and make it easier to  deal with math skills, foreign languages, art & science later, or to keep you young and sharp.   Entry Levels You will see the course name & Levels 1, 2 or 3 offered.  These are different levels.  Sunrise has 3 blocks, each over a 10 week time frame,  whereas Sunshine, Sunbeams, Moonbeams, My Choice,  three levels are taken over the course of 3 to 4 years. Sunrise 1, 2, 3. All-round Entry to Music. 10 week term - Ages 0 - 4.  Focus on rhythm and singing and joy of participating in music activities.  Parental Attendance is Mandatory. Sunshine 1, 2. Learn to play Piano.  28 week term - Ages 3.5 - 4.  Added a focus on learning how to play the piano and note reading. Parental Attendance is Mandatory. Sunbeams 1, 2, 3. Learn to play Piano.  28 week term - Ages 5 - 6.  Added focus on faster learning of 'keyboard critters', and reading from the staff.  Is your child going into Kindergarten or Grade 1?  This is for them! Parental Attendance is Mandatory. Moonbeams 1, 2, 3. Learn to play Piano. 28 week term - Ages 7 - 9.  Very different from other entry points; focuses on older children, but at the same time, addressing the need to feel an essence of "play" in their learning.  Will learn how to read from staff by the end of the year.  Parental Attendance is Mandatory. My Choice.  Learn to play Piano. 28 week term - Ages 9 - 14. Very different from other entry points; focuses on older children, but at the same time, addressing the need to feel an essence of "play" in their learning. Adults! Learn to play Piano. 10 week term - Ages 18 - 150! Very different from other entry points; focuses your needs to balance life and your desire to learn to play the piano and read music. Practice Requirements: Sunrise Listen to the CD, play with the goodies collected in the bag.  Have fun at home, play the games during the day. Practice is not mandatory, playing with their imagination and joy is!   Sunshine, Sunbeams, Moonbeams Practice is Mandatory!  A minimum of 5 days of practice is recommended to ensure that your child develops the fine motor skills needed for the year.  When practicing a song, try to do have it done 3 times per practice session.  Length of time will vary according to level. Sunshine: 10 – 15 minutes Sunbeams 15 – 20 minutes Moonbeams 1, Sunbeams 2,  20 – 25 minutes Sunbeams 3, Moonbeams 3, 30 minutes. You will need at assist with practice at home.  Once it’s a habit, it becomes easy.  Find a regular time, find a timer, and set it for the minimum time.  The point of practicing is to start giving discipline, and to instill the concept that not everything is “instant”.  Long practicing (for example) for one hour, is usually ineffective.
