Hello I'm Eileen Leversedge! I would wholeheartedly recommend the MYC program  and Eileen Leversedge as a teacher  to any parent who wants a solid music foundation for their child.  And having started with limited music background myself, the parented format allowed me to grow along with my children and prepared me to support their learning during classtime and at home, a very rewarding experience.  The group format provides a fun atmosphere that allows the kids to learn from and stimulate each other.  The progression may seem slower than could be achieved through focused private lessons but that's not comparing apples to apples.  The MYC format allows for the natural building of a wide range of skills that develop music appreciation (e.g. keyboarding, reading music, rhythm, theory), in the same way kids would learn a school subject like math, for example  each year builds on the previous, and the depth and breadth of their musical learning cannot be compared.  Even learning the theory is relatively painless as the progression is cumulative with well-structured exercises. I cannot say enough about the MYC program and its dedicated and knowledgeable teachers. Having worked through the MYC program with both of my children from the age of three on through graduating, I was continually impressed by the stimulating group format approach. I was particularly impressed with Eileen Leversedge's vast array of resources appropriate to each class and the well-orchestrated bi-annual concerts and composer night special events. She makes music a part of daily life rather than a once-a-week drop-in session. Although I grew up taking music in school and still play weekly, I learned so many things in the MYC program.
