Shana Anderson

Shana loves music and teaching! She is passionate about combining fun fundamentals with sound instruction in a keyboard based program for children and adults. Shana has taught Music for Young Children (MYC) since January 2007 and is a full time piano teacher. She has completed an Honours BA Specialization in Music, Masters of Arts in Music at the University of Ottawa and her level 8 Piano with the Royal Conservatory of Music. She studied with Canadian jazz legend Brian Browne and is currently studying classical piano music with Dr. Paul Merkley (Ph.D., FRSC, musician and professor).

MYC Group Classes:

Shana offers music for all ages. Please contact me directly via email or phone for registration inquiries ([email protected] and 613.883.6091). Pre-keyboard lessons are for children from birth to age 3. The Music Class® (formerly Music Pups®) and Sunrise* classes are up to 40 minutes in length. Activities include fun, singing, dancing, listening activities, rhythm instruments, etc. These classes are offered in 10 week blocks from September to June. Held in the Alta Vista area (near Haig and Pleasant Park). Sunrise Classes are also being held at the Glebe Community Centre on Wednesday mornings. MYC keyboard classes are group lessons that start in September and run until May/June. For level one entry classes, there are up to 6 students attending a class. Keyboard classes can include up to 12-15 different activities each week as classes are up to 55 minutes in length. Activities include singing, listening, rhythm ensemble, history, theory and piano. By the end of the first year the students will be reading music and playing with both hands.
