Elizabeth Roelands

Hi! I'm Elizabeth Roelands, one of your MYC teachers, now in Strathroy! Welcome to my website! Thanks for visiting, it's nice to "see" you here! I am so excited to be teaching MYC, offering 4 programs: Sunrise, Sunshine, Sunbeams, and Moonbeams! This is a wonderful program that teaches your child much more than you would think possible. MYC offers weekly 40-60 minute lessons, for children and parents/caregivers, that include rhythm time, singing time, solo and ensemble keyboarding, listening and ear training, sight reading, technique development, as well as many stories and games to make music fun for your whole family. Music for Young Children will give your child a wonderful core knowledge of music which can be applied wherever their musical journey takes them in the future. My musical past includes many years of private piano lessons as a child/teen, at the end of which I finished my grade 8 piano and level 4 theory exams. While I was in high school, my two sisters were enrolled in an MYC class; I went every week as the in-class helper for my sister, and I learned all about the MYC program. After high school, I went to university, and studied piano and voice there, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree with a minor in music. More recently, I completed my Royal Conservatory of Music Level 9 certificate, and am working towards a Kodaly Certification through the University of Western Ontario. I have taught piano lessons for 10 years, with mixture of MYC and private lesson experience. I have worked in school age and preschool childcare, as well as in an elementary school, where I am currently employed as a music teacher.  I love children and it gives me great joy to share my love of music with them. It is a beautiful thing to hear a child play their first piece on the piano. There is nothing like it in the world!
