We’re working on upgrading the network in a manufacturing plant, and I’ve hit a bit of a roadblock. The facility is huge, and running new Ethernet cables everywhere is both expensive and complicated. Wi-Fi isn’t reliable enough because of all the metal structures and interference from the machines. I’m looking into Ethernet extenders as a possible solution, but I’m not sure if they’ll work well in an industrial setting. Has anyone dealt with something like this? Any recommendations on how to get a stable connection across long distances?
Yeah, I’ve had to deal with a similar setup before. We needed to connect security cameras and monitoring stations across a large warehouse, and running fiber wasn’t in the budget. Ethernet extenders worked well for us, but we had to be mindful of cable limitations. If you’re wondering how far you can push an ong ethernet cable , this might be helpful. In our case, we used industrial-grade extenders to maintain a strong connection over long distances without signal degradation. Definitely worth considering if running new lines isn’t an option
I never realized how complex networking in industrial spaces could be. I always thought Wi-Fi was the go-to solution, but I guess interference can be a big problem. Reading about all these challenges makes me appreciate how much thought goes into setting up a stable network in places like factories and warehouses.
