Seven years ago, I enrolled my son in the Music for Young-Children Sunshine 1 class. At that time, I was not familiar with the program. I just wanted my son to learn music. It wasn't until I started attending the classes with him that I realized how amazing the MYC program really is! The curriculum is so well thought out and creatively presented. The class was perfect for my rambunctious little boy who probably couldn't sit through a traditional private lesson if he tried! I saw something light up in him. Week by week, I saw him remembering the little characters that helped him learn the notes on the music staff. I heard him sing the songs that he'd learned in class, but at home, while he played! And he always looked forward to going to class! There were even incentives to make practicing enjoyable! The MYC classes ignited an interest and a joy for music that even I didn't have growing up. And I LOVE music! So, naturally when the opportunity came for me to teach MYC classes myself, I jumped on it. I can't think of a better way to introduce children to music!! A little about me: I have a BFA in Inter-related Arts, majoring in Music (piano, classical guitar, vocals), Theatre Performance and Film Studies. I worked for many years in the Toronto film industry as an Assistant Director for film and television productions, and I also have some experience with teaching children's dance (tap, jazz, ballet), as well as Ballroom dancing. I love teaching children, instilling in them a joy for the Arts and especially a love for music which, hopefully, they'll carry with them throughout their lives!
